Savvy Boutique Beckons

Savvy BoutiqueNow that our second year of Santa Fe Fashion Week (SSFW) is in our rear view mirrors, there has been much buzz around the office about Savvy Boutique – our feature designer last year – and what direction they’ll follow with their line in 2014.

In order to whet our appetite after Savvys’ spectacular 2013 showing my assistant, Amanda and I, decided to take our curiosity on the road and took a trip to the historic Nob Hill area, located in Albuquerque at the corner of Central and Wellesley, nearby Two Fools Tavern.

Also lovingly known as RT. 66, Nob Hill boasts a variety of architecture from its already hip beginnings on through the great post-war era. Well known for its association with Route 66, Americana lovers and classic car enthusiasts alike fall in love with the still-brightly lit neon signs, classic cars, and the pleasant urban feel. Many can feel the magic of deep-rooted culture and the passage of time; from the early 1900’s through the Roaring Twenties and beyond, today’s Nob Hill is a stroll through living history.

Upon entering the upscale boutique, we were first struck by the presentation: rich and spacious, pale wooden floors spanned the area giving the place an open and fresh feel while still reflecting the surrounding look and feel of one of the hippest places in Albuquerque that Savvy is home to.

A single, round chandelier bejewels the room. As my eyes were guided to the glittering array of scar scarves, jewelry, and hairpieces, Amanda was guided to racks of the latest cuts, colors, styles, and fabrics. After picking out a long, flowing halter dress with a bold navy and white chevron pattern the friendly staff there helped her “winterize” the versatile dress with different accessories, handbags, and coats while still staying with the seasons’ trends and colors.  As Amanda tried on the dress, she commented on how soft, flowing fabrics often compliment any figure.  Near the end of our visit, I appreciated the comfortable chairs no doubt placed there for the weary shopper/shopping pal.

After Amanda and I left the boutique we walked around the area and admired the many stores, art galleries, and viewed many fine dining establishments located there.

As Savvy Boutique rapidly approaches their one-year anniversary we look forward with anticipation to Savvy Boutiques’ most exciting 2014 fashions. Certainly, the upscale boutique has firmly established themselves as a notable figure in classic Nob Hill.
